Is it more of the same or something different?

I really love the post-rock feel of it and the "about to scream but doesn't quite get there" vocal style pushes an emotional ambiguity to the forefront of a genre sometimes known for hamfisted angst. Listen to this song and tell me you don't feel like you want him to scream to just get it out around the four minute mark. Then listen a couple times more just to enjoy it.
With Circle Takes the Square back in business and La Dispute steadily evolving, screamo, whether we can still call it that or not, is in a better place than it has been for quite some time at least for me. I realize that the underground has always had it's share of bands active within the scene but seeing these bands push it back into the lower regions of the public's eye (or upper part of the underground maybe) makes me really happy about the state of it.
If you're not already familiar with Pianos Become the Teeth then you have quite a treat waiting for you in their back catalog. My favorite album personally is The Lack Long After and I'll Get By is probably my all time favorite screamo song so that's as good a place to start as any:
Give it a shot, shed a few tears and pre-order the new album; I have a feeling it's going to be pretty amazing.
