The refinement and confidence are present in spades. Gone are the numerous (although talented) guest vocalists and both vocalists (clean and rough) have stepped up their game significantly. The songwriting is really varied and apparently there is an underlying concept. I haven't really delved into the lyrics in this first listen but if that's the reason for the great flow the album has then I love the concept regardless of what it actually is. Like Living Creature before it Allomaternal has great cover art so this feels like a complete package. Great music (both performance-wise and songwriting), vocals and production wrapped in a beautiful piece of art. Bandcamp has both the digital and physical version available so go wild and if you like this Blue Swan has what you need to scratch your progressive post-hardcore needs. Hail the Sun, Sianvar, Stolas and Secret Band are all on the label and if you require more there's always A Lot Like Birds to blow you away over and over again.
Overall it's a huge improvement upon an already good album and honestly a fantastic first listen, if it only gets better from here I'm in for something great.
