Both songs flow freely through their 7+ minute run times and while Septa were certainly diverse before (on The Lover and Destroyer) this still managed to surprise me. Or at least it would have if Eugene hadn't warned me that I would be surprised.
It was a pleasant surprise though, from the saxophone (I think) in the beginning of Septa's track to Eugene's contribution to She Oak's track I really enjoyed all of it. The vocals and instrumentation on Septa's track are quite a bit more reserved than they were on Destroyer which I reviewed recently (here) but seeing as one of the things I commended them for was their diversity I can't complain about another successful experiment. Both tracks are quite dynamic and follow a rhythm that's all their own so I recommend sitting down and giving the entire split a good listen from beginning to end a couple of times. It'll only take you about 15 minutes each time so if you don't like it you won't have lost a lot of time.
