Itzamna from Bordeaux, France play jazz with math rock influences and if that ticks any of your boxes Metnal will probably appeal to you. I've only given it one full listen but that already convinced me that I will follow that up with numerous more.
Even if you haven't ventured into the realm of jazz (jazzrealm should totally be a competitor in Mortal Kombat) this is probably a good first step if you're already into math rock or similar music.
A Night Idea.
Night Idea is a math rock/indie/prog band from Richmond, Virginia who write, using a wide variety of influences, catchy well composed songs. The vocals are nice and smooth, some post rock influences creep in there at times and the album flows nicely from top to bottom.
So if you wish Itzamna had vocals and a less-jazz-more-rock attitude, or if you're into the calmer end of the math rock spectrum check it out.
He/they toured recently with Listener so there you have a very unique couple of artists, both of whom I really like. I sure wouldn't mind seeing that show to be honest.
