It could refer to the fact that what is considered the norm in various musical genres today, even pop up to a degree, would have been considered noise not so long ago. Jørgen Munkeby wrote an interesting article about that some time ago so I'll just leave a link if you are interested in the subject.

It gets bonus points for being on The Monolith. On top of being a great blog, I got to know three of the writers at Tech Fest and they were all great. I really recommend reading their Tech Fest interviews, hilarious stuff.
To move along with the matter at hand: the Modern Noise teaser has a pretty piano melody with exactly none of Tommy's signature vocals on top of it, whether or not this is the final version of the song or if it has more instruments and/or vocals remains to be seen. It's very enjoyable as it is but I kinda hope there is more to it. Either way I'm glad to see him play more keyboard, hopefully he'll bring more of that into BTBAM while he's at it.
If you haven't already listened to it I recommend giving Pulse a go, it's kind of a disjointed album but there are some great songs on there nonetheless.
I'll leave a couple for reference.
